Empowering health and wellbeing through integrative approaches
Influencing the way medicine could be practised better.
The Institute for Integrative Medicine Foundation (IIMF) is incorporated to lead the transformation of health care by empowering the new generation of health professionals, individuals, and communities to optimize health and well-being through evidence-based, sustainable, integrative approaches. Remember, more healthcare is not better healthcare. Meaning too many treatment options and specialties within one system of practice is not better healthcare. Instead, an integrated approach offering a complete and long-lasting solution and prevention of illness is ideal healthcare. Integrative medicine involves the structural and functional integration of conventional and traditional medical systems with a focus on wellness and health while emphasizing the relationship between the practitioner and patient rather than treating only the disease. Integrative medicine has much larger goals and is very relevant to the health care crisis that we face today. It is about taking the patient from a state of disease to a state of health and wellness. Integrative medicine can be simply described as a system of medicine that regards the whole person, including body, mind, and spirit, as being of fundamental importance.
FOCUS AREAS
01
Educate and Train
Provide comprehensive education and training programs to healthcare professionals, researchers, students, and traditional healers on the principles, practices, and applications of integrative medicine. The aim is to enhance understanding, skills, and competencies in integrative healthcare delivery through workshops, seminars, conferences, and online resources.
03
Elder Care:
Provide welfare services to elders through health and wellness programs that contribute to the improvement of quality of life and the protection of dignity of living. Often, elders with chronic lifestyle disorders depend on long-term medication, increasing the long-term risks and complications that compromise their quality of life. IIMF engages with doctors and other remedial practitioners to treat the elders from chronic disorders like stroke, Parkinson’s, dementia, Alzheimer’s, psychological concerns, etc. at subsidized cost. IIMF is also a key influencer in policymaking related to various healthcare schemes and policies of the government.
02
Empower Communities:
Engage with local communities, traditional healers, and healthcare providers to promote awareness, acceptance, and accessibility of integrative healthcare practices. We support community health initiatives, outreach programs, and capacity-building efforts to address healthcare disparities, improve individual awareness, and promote holistic well-being.
04
Research Excellence:
Conduct cutting-edge research in integrative medicine using allopathy and / or traditional science, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, herbal medicine, traditional healing practices, nutritional interventions, mind-body therapies, and complementary medicine modalities. IIMF research endeavours to focus on exploring the curative properties and therapeutic potential of natural remedies, validating traditional knowledge systems, and developing evidence-based healthcare solutions.
05
TOT (Technology Transfer) and Innovate:
Facilitate the translation of research findings and innovations into practical solutions, products, and services that benefit society. Through partnerships with industry, government agencies, and academic institutions, we strive to promote technology transfer, commercialization of research outcomes, and the development of innovative healthcare solutions.
